Observations from my trip:
– life is better when you assume positive intent
The most interesting aspect of Vegas for me was the openness of the sex trade and that the abolitionists representing I believe Shared Hope International were holding up signs talking about the shame of Vegas, selling her daughters to sin, but having absolutely no idea what kind of prevention or aftercare programs the group they claimed to advocate for offered. The bartenders were delightful; they kept a firm eye on things without being intrusive and because both the sex trade and trafficking are just obviously there instead of a moral stain on the map, I felt safe and welcome to embrace my femininity in a way I feel unsafe to do here.
